Life Lessons from Working Remotely

Just the other day, my organization closed its financial year after months of operation through a pandemic. As is my team’s tradition we had a meeting to review our year-end achievements. This year’s meeting was very different from previous years, as we had not met physically as a team for months due to the pandemic. In fact, it was my first time meeting with some team members in person, though we of course had held countless zoom meetings during the period.

We had a very interesting meeting, while ensuring we took all the necessary precautions. We took stock of the number of projects that were either cancelled or postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic. We considered how the new work arrangements had affected us. At the same time, we were all grateful that we didn’t have to restructure or right-size the organization. And we agreed that as we started our new financial year there are a number of life-lessons we can take away from working remotely during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Allow me share what I told my colleagues we need to do to ensure that we remain resilient as an organization.

Remain Adaptive
